In Math we learned more about Geometry. We learned about polygons, quadrilaterals, triangles, hexagons, pentagons, octagons, and decagons in math. Our teacher taught us tricks to remember the names of the polygons. For example, for the 8 sided octagon it is octopus because an octopus has 8 arms. For another example, the four sided quadrilateral because in the beginning it says quad and a quad has 4 wheels and a quadrilateral has 4 sides.

Terrific Tuesday
Today in science we had a jigsaw. That is where you get assigned into a group and teach the class what you read about. The packet was about space. You can draw, sing, write a poem, or act out what you read. A bunch of people sang a song. Then you walk up in front of the class. While you are up in front of the class you put on your performance.

Tangram Wednesday
Today we practiced tangrams for math night tomorrow. Tangrams are foam blocks that you can make shapes. For example, you can make a rectangle by moving two big triangles. To start the rectangle you have to start as a square. Another example is a parallelogram. It is so much fun to do tangrams.

Matilda Thursday
Today Mrs. Sullivan read part of a book called Matilda. It's about a little 5 year old girl named Matilda and she has REALLY mean parents. It's sad thinking how mean her parents are. Do you have mean parents? I hope you don't. Matilda is so funny!

PENNIES FOR PAJAMAS
Last week we had pennies for pajamas and it was the best day ever! Our class had awesome patterns on their pj's! You should have seen our pj's. They were SO cool! Pennies for pj's is a fundraiser that raises money for people who don't have pj's. Each person who wears pj's brings in a dollar and helps pay for pj's. Because of this fundraiser many people will have war pj's for the winter!

MINI TOWN
Have you ever ridden a scooter on a highway? Or seen a child pay for gas at a gas station? If you answered 'yes' to any of these questions, you're in Mini town! There is a super highway that you can go as fast as you would like. It is fun and good exercise. You get coins so you can get gas. Also, coins so you can go on the super highway. There are mini games and you can play them. You can also control a stoplight. There is a gas station. You can connect scooters to make buses. It rocks!!!!! Something surprising is... IT'S ALL IN GYM CLASS!

AWESOME BASKETBALL ASSEMBLY
In January Mr.Steve came to Alpine school. He is a professional basketball player. Mr.Steve came all the way from Ohio to Sparta by car. He has great skills. His basketball program is called Totally Courageous Basketball. He got students in our school to spin a basketball on a pencil. Mr.Steve spun the ball on little toy figures. For example, he used a barbie doll,Yoda, and even a Spiderman action figure. In the grand finale he put pencils on his knees, feet, and arms and spun 1 ball on each pencil. The point of this assembly was to try your hardest and believe in yourself. Also to never give up.

“Dun dun dun dun” It’s time to track Hurricane Sulli for science! We tracked Hurricane Sulli in the weather unit. Mrs.Sullivan told the class to track the Hurricane on our tracking chart stapled in our science notebook. The class even had to find out where the Hurricane had moved to. The class loved it.

At school we have Halloween parties. We painted pumpkins pretty and made marvelous mummies. On bingo we scored ghost, but ghost sounds more like ghoul. A lot of people screamed BOO! Spooky music filled the room. We dressed up our costumes and SNAP! went Mrs. Sullivan’s camera as she took our picture. When the party ended we got goodies. We had a blast.By:Zsofia, Olivia, and Emily

Spectacular Science
In science we did an experiment. In it we saw the temperatures of sand, dirt, and water in the sun and in the shade. The ones in the shade were colder. Also, we compared our temperatures with a machine called Infrared Thermometer. Mrs.Sullivan was the coldest person, Brodie was the hottest. Some people in the class had the same temperatures. For example, Zsofia and Aura had the same temperatures.

Today's Science
Today we learned more about shadows in science. In these pictures of our class we are tracing our shadows at 9:0 am. Later in the day we went out again to see our shadows but they were hard to see because the sun wasn't out.

Science
Today we learned about science. The thing we learned in science was shadows. Shadows are made by an object that blocks light and it creates a shadow. Sun projects light on an object that makes a shadow.

Dias de la semana
In Spanish today, Lunes (Monday), Febrero (February) 6th, we practiced dias de la semana (days of the week) Domingo through Sabado (Sunday through Saturday). We don't have a real Spanish teacher, but Mrs. Sullivan is just as good. We call her Senora Sullivan. She even puts on a sombrero! So it's a proven fact that Mrs. Sullivan is better than a real Spanish teacher.

The Day of Fun
Today in science we learned about the sun and we got to dance because Mrs.Sullivan put on the music while we worked. We learned that the sun is a star. Also we got three stars and we had to write one fact on each star. We also learned that the sun may burn out any day in at least 1,000,000,000 years or more. We probably won't be alive by then.

Today Dr.Harte came to our school. He talked to us about teeth. For example, flossing, how to brush your teeth the right way, and much more! He gave us goodie bags that had cool stuff in them. During the talking he picked people to help him do some funny things. That was a fun Wednesday. Dr. Harte is a funny guy!
