Back to School Video
To kick off the year, our class made a Back to School video. We used the iPad and had a great time taking video, editing, and adding background music and our own singing. Take a look at it here:

Descriptive Writing
Today we were thinking of a descriptive poem for writing. We liked this project. It was very fun. We hope you like this.
Green looks like a gigantic, hairy, ugly, scary monster.
Green sounds like grasshopper chirping in the mossy swamp.
Green feels like the needles of the spiky evergreen tree growing in the dark forest.
Green smells like fresh basil on my hot cheesy pepperoni pizza.
Green tastes like a crunchy cucumber in my fresh picked salad.

The Great Third Grade Day
First we did a very fun math game called trashketball. Here is how you are supposed to play. You have a trashball and then you see if you can toss it in the trashcan. Whatever team gets the trashball into the trashcan the most wins. If we rounded numbers correctly, we got a turn to play. We reviewed the different types of communities. They are rural, urban, and suburban. We had a fantastic day.

Best third day of school ever!
Today in social studies we learned about different types of communities. There are 3 types. They are called suburban, urban, rural. In math we did a worksheet and used mental math. During snack, Mrs. Sullivan read one chapter from a Judy Blume book called, Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing. Our special today was art and we made folders for our artwork. Today we had a fantastic day!

First Week
We had a great two days this week! We spent a lot of time getting to know each other and the rules and routines of the classroom. We have a great class this year! Today we got through an entire math lesson and we will be starting all of our subjects on Monday. This math chapter focuses on addition and subtraction so keep practicing those facts at home. Beginning on Monday there will be math homework and the students will be required to read for 15 minutes each night. For those who haven't already done so, please remember to return all forms and cover the math book.
Have a great weekend!
