Economics Fair

Yesterday we had the economics fair. The group that made the most profit was Nick and Stephen. They made a Navy Airplane. It cost only 11$ so 6 people bought it.  It did not cost a lot of money to make it cost 8$ to make so a lot of people bought their product because it did not cost that much money.  Even I bought their product.

I felt glad that we won most  box tops!

SNOW MAN PROJECT

In school we are making a snowman pot for our parents. We had to paint it white first. Then we had to put on the colored piece of paper for the scarf. Next you could choose to do a hat or earmuffs. The hat was made of a sock and Mrs. Sullivan had to cut off the top of it and she asked, "Do you want to fold it down or up?" I uttered, "Fold it up." How you make the earmuffs is you need string, pom-poms and hot  glue.  First you see where you want to put the pom-poms.  Then you hot glue them on and then hot glue the string. That's what we did so far with the snow men.

Multiplication

During multiplication flash cards Mrs. Sullivan made a bet with her group.  The bet was that if we got around the carpet in a minute or less she would get up and DANCE in the center of the carpet.  She did a dance that was unbelievably unforgettable.  That was our favorite math class ever!

Smart Table

For 2 weeks we get to use the Smart Table. It is fun to use.  There are all different activity packs.  My favorite activity on the Smart Table is the Guess Who game  and math games. Here is how you play the Guess Who game so you spin  the spinner and who ever  has a pink box picks a person or animal but everyone else has to turn around. Then the other person with a pink box  asks a question.  For example: Does he have brown hair? No? So you take everyone with brown hair and put it in the box and check it off then hit the trash can then narrow it down until you're done.

Silly Math

Ha! Ha! Ha! The class  laughed at Mrs. Sullivan's hysterical drawings as we strived to guess what she drew. This was a lesson for writing  multiplication stories in math. Ah, Ah, ...  , no ah Curious George! Squirrel  with suspenders!  No not close at all! It was a chipmunk. Oh! we yelled.

Book Fair

When I got to the book fair I looked for books. My dad didn't give me money so I made a wish list. I found a lot of books I like. A book I found was called World Records 2013. I looked in the chapter side first. I put 15 items on my wish list. When I was done with my wish list I had to pick a number that was under the teacher's pictures. The teacher I picked was Mrs.Sullivan. When the book fair was done I put my wish list in my backpack and ran as fast as flash out of the school. I had a fun time at the book fair.

Centers

When the class is in centers I like to do independent reading.  It's when some of the class reads and records the pages we read. When we are done you have to write what you read in the story. Then you check it with the teacher. Then you can read another book. That's what I like about centers.

The Wall

On Veteran's Day we read The Wall. It's about how a father and his son go to Washington D.C. They saw the wall and looked for their grandfather's name.  They got a pencil and paper and they rubbed pencil on the paper against the wall so their grandfather's name showed  up on the paper.

Weather

In science we learning about weather.  Some of the tools are the barometer, the rain gauge, the thermometer, and the wind vane.  We also learned about the climate.  The climate is what the weather is like for a long time.  Different places have different climates.  We took a quiz on Edmodo.com about the different climates around the world.

Outstanding Weather Tools

In science we are learning about weather.  There are different types of weather tools.   One is a thermometer which measures temperature. A rain gauge which measures how much precipitation has fallen.  A wind vane shows the wind direction.  A hygrometer measures the humidity in the air.  A barometer measures the air pressure, and an anemometer measures the wind speed.

My Rotten Redheaded Older Brother!

In school we are reading, My Rotten Redheaded Older Brother by  Patricia Polacco. Is is about Trisha and her older brother Richard. He brags that he does everything better than his little sister Trisha. The funny  part in the story is that Trisha wants to have a contest of who could eat the most rhubarb. She said that because she didn't think he liked rhubarb, but instead he said he LOVED rhubarb. I think My Rotten Redheaded Older Brother is a very good book!

Two Bad Ants

In Two Bad  Ants we learned about point of view.  In an ant's point of view grass was a forest.  We had to use our 3 subject notebook and write what the ants thought it was and  what it actually was. What I thought about the book was  it was a good book because it was funny that the ants thought that sugar was crystals.

Musical Math

Yesterday I was the leader of musical math. I like being the leader, but not so much. We all  take turns being the leaders.  Some of us did crazy dances. Some people thought it was too hard to copy what the person in front  was doing. About four or five people got to be the leader.

Trooper Bambara

Today a police officer came to our school.  He showed us his police gear. My favorite was the police car.  It had lots of other gear like a computer, a spare weapon on the side of chair, lots of buttons, a siren and I don't think the car had anything else in it. BYE

Are we getting arrested?!

Trooper Bambara

Today we had Trooper Bambara at school.  He is a state trooper.  He is different from normal police because he covers the state of New Jersey.  He showed us everything he uses on a daily basis. For example, bullet proof vest; riot helmet; shotgun;. car gear; computer; security camera.  He told us a secret- if there is an orange light in the grill the security camera is on record. Those are some cool  things that happened this morning!
Don't  touch this stuff- only touch for emergencies
