Biography Book Reports

Stellaluna

Yesterday we read Stellaluna. It's about a mother bat and her baby, Stellaluna who were trying to get food but an owl attacked. Stellaluna fell down down and then landed on a branch. Then she fell again down down.  Eventually Stellaluna landed in a bird's nest. Stellaluna fell in a birds nest upside down and scared 3 baby birds. Stellaluna was terribly hungry, but not for the crawly things the mama bird brought.  Eventually Stellaluna couldn't stand it any longer and ate bugs. Stellaluna learned to be like a bird but still liked hanging upside down and one day the curious birds tried it too. But mama bird was very nervous and scared that they would break their necks. Mama bird wasn't happy with Stellaluna. Then one day  the birds and Stellaluna could fly. The birds landed ok on the branch while Stellaluna had trouble landing. Stellaluna said she will fly and that's what she did.  Then the next night she was flying all day while the three birds went home. Then she landed by her hands instead of feet. Then some bats came Stellaluna told them what happened to her. One bat wanted to see Stellaluna and it was Stellaluna's mom! They all started flying in the dark and they found a mango tree and ate mangos. Then she told the birds the best place for fruits. But they couldn't see in the dark. So Stellaluna had to save them.  The End.

KINDLES!!!!!

Every Friday our class will be going to Ms.Gallagher's library to work with a Kindle.  The best part is that we each get our own!  We will be going into reading groups and reading books on the Kindles together.  Last week, the class learned how to turn the Kindle on, off, screen saver, table of contents and how to scroll up and down.  We go to Ms.Gallagher's library at the end of every Friday.  We will have fun reading on the Kindles!!!!

Adjectives

On Monday ( 2/11/13) in grammar we read Hairy,Scary,Ordinary. It was all about what adjectives are.  They are words that describe things, for example hot or cold, silly, scary, or ordinary. The book had so many adjectives that we couldn't even count. ( It was a rhyming book.)

JUMP ROPE FOR HEART

In gym we had JUMP ROPE FOR HEART!!!  In jump rope for heart there were different stations like, jumping on big balls, jumping with a jump rope and jumping over lots of poles.  It was too much fun!!We got a bookmark, sticker, and a water bottle at the end of class. We had lot of fun jumping and hopping over  obstacles.  Samantha LOVED the bouncy balls the best and Isabelle LOVED the bouncy balls too.

Math Test

Today ( 2/11/13) we had our math test!!!  It was on division and we were doing topic 8.  Most of the people in our class thought the test was kind of hard.  I thought it was in the middle.  Desi and I hope we get a 100%!!!  At least I hope I get a 100 on every test we take!!  I hope I did great and I hope you did good too!!

The Chinese New Year

Today is the Chinese New Year. This years Chinese New Years animal is the snake. For those people who don't know about the Chinese New Year, it is like their own New Year but they celebrate differently than North America.  They do it later than North America. This year their New Year is 2/11/13.

VALENTINES DAY ! :) !

On Thursday we are handing out Valentines! We have to hand it in on Thursday or bring it in earlier.
We have to put them in the notes basket. On Thursday we are going to hand out our Valentines to the class  and we are going  to make our mail boxes in the classroom and it is going to be really FUN !!!!!!!!!!!! After Valentine's day we are having snack NOT a party. IT IS GOING TO BE SO FUN.

The Moon Book

Today we are working on the moon. We read The Moon Book. We learned about the moon and Neil Armstrong. We got information from the book. Neil Armstrong was the first person  to walk on the moon. In the book it was talking about all the phases of the moons. There is the New moon, the Full moon, Waning crescent, Waxing crescent, Third quarter, First quarter, Waning gibbous, Waxing gibbous.

Indoor Recess

Yesterday at indoor recess we built a ferris wheel, a merry-go-round, and  a roller coaster out of K'Nex. We  made a lot of cool  stuff with the K'Nex at indoor recess. I built a roller coaster that was really immense. I also made a generator with Kaden.

Technology!!

Today, our class is changing up our schedule.  We are doing technology.  For example,  blogging is technology.  All computers and iPads are all part of technology.  Technology is fun.  It is a time to go on computers,  the blog, iPads, iPods,and cameras.  Technology is about learning on how to use the computer.

Biography Book Report

In school we are doing a biography book report and for extra credit you can dress up like the person you're doing it on. We have to present it to the whole class and write a summary about the person.T he kids could pick their books today in library or in the classroom.
