Friday Challenge
Every Friday in math we do the Friday Challenge. In the Friday Challenge we have to do a Quick Check in school. If you get a 100 Mrs. Sullivan will put a sticker next to your name. Some people like to call it homework in school. I like it because we can do homework but we do it in school. I also like it because I want to know who got a 100. The Friday Challenge is very fun. It is like playing around the world. I love the Friday Challenge!

A Great Assembly!
Today (3/7/13) Rachelle Burk came in. She wrote Tree House in a Storm. It was a very good book and sad when Kenny's tree house broke when Hurricane Betsy came along. She told us that she loves to write books and she showed us funny pictures. She is very nice and loves frogs. Also the illustrator loves frogs too!

Love of Reading!!!
All throughout one week of March we have Love of Reading week. In Love of Reading week each day there is a different theme. For example, on Monday we wore green for the Grinch. On Tuesday we wore crazy socks for Fox in Socks. On Wednesday it was Wacky Wednesday, so we wore wacky clothes. On Thursday we wore clothes that had a place we went on it for Oh The Places You'll Go. And finally we wore pajamas on Friday for My Many Colored Days!!

New Jersey's History
Last week we started to learn about New Jersey's history. Mrs.Sullivan put papers on the wall and if we knew something about New Jersey's history we got to write it on the paper. Mrs. Sullivan put the alphabet on the wall. Some of the words we put on it were Albert Einstein, Brook Trout, John Cabot, the Dutch, Henry Hudson, Zinc, Thomas Edison, and Queen Anne. Today's lesson was the Colony of New Jersey. This was the fifth lesson about New Jersey's History. This is all the stuff we learned in social studies so far.

The Best Book
Today in class we read "When Lightning Comes in a Jar" in shared reading. The setting of this book is in Michigan at Trisha and her grandma's house. When you read the book, you will find out in the end that the lightning is really fireflies. This book is by Patricia Polacco. Patricia made all of her books connected to her own life, and every book that we read about her was very fascinating. In the book, Patricia wrote about one of her Family Reunions. Trisha's whole family came to visit her. I liked this book because Trisha was playing and having lots of fun with her family.
