Halo around the Sun

Today after lunch we discovered a strange sight!  After some research, we found out that it was a halo around the sun.  The halo is caused when the sun's rays bounce off ice crystals 4-5 miles up in the sky.  The ice crystals make up the cirrus clouds in the sky.

Poetry

April was National Poetry month.  During the month the students learned about many different types of poems and had the opportunity to compose their own poems.  At the end of the month, the students chose their favorite poems, illustrated, and recorded them.  Here is our final product:

Gym Class

Today, our class has gym. We are playing lacrosse which is fun. Lacrosse is a game where you have a net and a hard ball. You throw a ball with the stick and there are very small nets and a big goalie. Boy lacrosse is much different than girl lacrosse. In girl lacrosse you can't touch each other, but in boy lacrosse you can check and hit them with their sticks. I hope we play girl lacrosse.

NJASK

In May we are doing the NJ ASK. It shows the second and first graders not to be nervous on the test. We are also making a video. For part of the video Mrs. Sullivan went on the roof.  It was EPIC!

N J ASK

Soon we will be taking the NJ Ask.Were making an NJ Ask music video to get everyone excited for it.
Here's how we make it... first we pick the song.  Next we change the lyrics. Then we record it.  Last but not least, we take videos and add it in where it belongs. This is our first year taking the NJ Ask. We all hope for advanced proficient.   Actually that is a line from the video,  "Advanced proficient is the way to go ''.  I bet my class will do good!

Poetry

This week we are going to be choosing poems that we wrote then illistrating a picture to go with the poem that we chose.  The poem could be a Limerick, Haiku, Couplet, or a Diamonte that you were able to write or one that you already wrote.  For example, someone could have chosen a poem that went like this: There once was a penguin from China. He liked the cat fish kinda.  He sat on a chair and gave out a stare, then he went out to buy a binda.  Then the person who wrote that could have drawn a penguin on the Great Wall of China.

Science Experiment

In science we did an experiment  with steel wool, baking soda,  water, boiled water, air, and salt water. Throughout three days we said what they looked like.  The boiled water made the steel wool rusty so did the water and salt water.  The baking soda stayed the same and the air too.
