Words Their Way

Due to the short week, we will not be testing this week's words on Friday. We will be practicing the rules and spellings through activities in class. We sent the list and homework to practice the words and for reinforcement at home.

Beast Mode Recess

Today's recess was so so so awesome because we were in the gym.  I played jack pot with a non hard ball.  It wasn't like a normal kick ball because we didn't want anyone to get hurt and we didn't have one.  The other ball was a lot easier to use because it wasn't heavy and it stayed in the air longer.  Hunter, Mason, Adam, Liam, and Alex made some amazing NFL catches like epic dives and high jumps.  I made a few good catches but not as good as theirs.  Beast Mode Recess DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Make our own thing

Mrs. Sullivan told us in shared reading that we are allowed to put either a drawing of something at   recess or if you got a good score on a test or something like that on our class board. It has a picture of yourself and you just put it in so people can see it.

Turns out I did well on my test. I got all of the answers correct, I feel so lucky right now!

Today in gym we used basketballs. We shot them an we dribbled them. We did a chest pass.

Elephant or gorilla project

We are doing a project where we can either pick an elephant or gorilla. I don't know which one I'm doing, I think I'm doing an elephant, I don't know. They both are really cool.

The Project

We just read this morning The One And Only Ivan. Mrs.Sullivan said we  would be doing a project on either an elephant or a gorilla from the story. I picked a gorilla but we did not start it yet but I am really excited to do it. I had to read lots of the books about, you can guess, yep, gorillas. I had to put them in my writing note book and we did stop and jot all of the facts. I guess that is all so bye.

Science

We did an experiment about force and motion.  We tested with a marble.  We saw if it could go farther on the carpet or the floor and it was the floor that it went farther on because there was less friction.

Fun Day

On Monday we played All Aboard. All Aboard is when a class tries to fit in a fake lifeboat. It took a few minutes. But it fun.  We played all  Aboard  so that Mrs. Sullivan knows that we can work together.

New Teacher

When you get a new teacher on the first day after holiday break, your classroom is aranged differently.  It feels like you're in the next grade. Added on to that, you're smarter, so you get harder work. It is even a new year! If your new teacher does different things, that makes you feel older too. Your new teacher might bring new things in and your old teacher take things out! It gets confusing sometimes, but you'll get use to having a new teacher. Just DON'T GET NERVOUS and you'll get through it.

My favorite thing that we did this week

My favorite thing was the boat game. We made a small boat and a plank to get on. All of us had to get on and if we did we would get 10 marbles. We barely made it. It took us 3 tries to make it. I learned that a lot of stuff needs teamwork. That is what we did with Mrs.Sullivan.

AWESOME PROJECT!

I am so so so excited  for the cereal box project. I hope the month goes by quick. I also liked when we played All Aboard. It is when you have to fit your whole class in a tiny life boat. It took us a couple times but we did it. We played that game because we were trying to do team work. Mrs. Sullivan is fun so far!

Teamwork

On Monday we did a New Years project where we made faces on paper and put a party hat on them. Then we put it up on the wall.  We also played All Aboard; there was a small box and we would call it a life boat. There was a sinking ship and we had to fit everyone in the class in the box. After a couple of tries we finally got it! Mrs.Sullivan took a picture of all of us in the box.

Almost everything in the past 3 days

Today in music we got some exciting news about our recorders that we are getting them on the 28th, but that doesn't really matter because my brother is in middle school and has one all ready.  Yesterday in science we are starting motions, gravity, and friction.  We are going to start some experiments someday but we just started.  In gym we started basketball and I can't wait to start playing for real because I like basketball a lot.  We are going to have a math pretest and I have high confidence that it is going to be very very easy.

All Aboard

We played a game called All Aboard.

It was hard the first time but after 3 times it was fun.

All you have to do is make all the people in your class get on the raft.

After we got one last person,  we won and fell.  

We did the game for Mrs.Sullivan to see our team work.

Gym

In gym we're playing basketball! We dribbled the ball all over the gym and we did tricks. We dribbled the ball under our legs. We did some other tricks too!Gym is awesome!
